A Stepwise Refinement Based Development of Self-Organizing Multi-Agent Systems: Application to the Foraging Ants

چکیده
In this paper we propose a formal modelisation for selforganizing Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) based on stepwise refinement steps, with the Event-B language. This modelisation allows to develop this kind of system in a more structured manner. In addition, it enables to reason, in a rigourous way, about the correctness of the derived models both at the individual level and the global level. Our work is illustrated by the foraging ants case study.

A Pattern based Modelling for Self-organizing Multi-agent Systems with Event-B
Self-Organizing Multi-Agent Systems (SO-MAS) are defined as a set of autonomous entities called agents interacting together in order to achieve a given task. Generally, the development process of these systems is based on the bottom-up approach which focuses on the design of the entities individual behavior. The main question arising when developping SO-MAS is how to insure that the designed en...
متن کاملFormal Modelling and Verification of Cooperative Ant Behaviour in Event-B
Multi-agent technology is a promising approach to development of complex decentralised systems that dynamically adapt to changing environmental conditions. The main challenge while designing such multi-agent systems is to ensure that reachability of the systemlevel goals emerges through collaboration of autonomous agents despite changing operating conditions. In this paper, we present a case st...
متن کاملToward Systemic MAS Development: Enforcing Decentralized Self-organization by Composition and Refinement of Archetype Dynamics
The utilization of self-organizing processes promises scalability, robustness and adaptivity in Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), solely based on decentralized coordination of individual actors. Bionic development approaches are being established, which reuse decentralized coordination mechanisms that are derived from natural self–organizing systems. In this paper, we address analysis activities in in...
متن کاملFuzzy Labeled Transition Refinement Tree: Application to Stepwise Designing Multi Agent Systems
This paper aims to provide a formal framework that supports an incremental development of dynamic systems such as multi agents systems (MAS). We propose a fuzzy labeled transition system model (FLTS for short). FLTS allows a concise action refinement representation and deals with incomplete information through its fuzziness representation. Afterward, based on FLTS model, we propose a refinement...
متن کاملPolyethism in a colony of artificial ants
We explore self-organizing strategies for role assignment in a foraging task carried out by a colony of artificial agents. Our strategies are inspired by various mechanisms of division of labor (polyethism) observed in eusocial insects like ants, termites, or bees. Specifically we instantiate models of caste polyethism and age or temporal polyethism to evaluated the benefits to foraging in a dy...
